Avitale L-LYSIN Tabletten sind ein Monopräparat und enthalten L-Lysinmonohydrochlorid. Durch den Chemiker Edmund Drechsel wurde L-Lysin im Jahr 1889 entdeckt, der es aus dem Milcheiweiß Kasein isolierte.

L-Lysin gehört zu den acht essentiellen Aminosäuren, die über die Nahrung aufgenommen werden müssen, da der Körper sie nicht selbst bilden kann.

Generell enthalten Getreide und Gemüse wenig L-Lysin, Ausnahmen sind Nüsse und Hülsenfrüchte. Reicher an Lysin sind Fisch, Schweine- und Rindfleisch sowie Ei und Milchprodukte.
